About UsTama Locklair McGee, originally from Florence, SC, currently lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband Brian and her daughter and son. After 7 years of teaching music in the public school system, Tama is now a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. Kathryn Brannon, also of Atlanta, GA, lives with her husband and their son. Kathryn is a stay-at-home mom as well as a portrait photographer for children and families. For more information on her photography services, please visit www.kathrynbrannon.com. Tama and Kathryn became friends while pregnant with their sons and found something in common right away: their love of shopping for a good deal! As single-income families, they had to shop for their children's clothing, shoes, and toys each season while sticking to a budget. Tama and Kathryn enjoy shopping consignment sales for bargains and buying "name brand" items at a discounted price. After shopping them for a while, Tama and Kathryn began selling at Atlanta area consignment sales and started making money off of toys, clothing, shoes and other items their kids had outgrown. Kathryn loves the idea of recycling her son's gently used items and is glad to know that someone else can continue to enjoy them at a great price. "Sometimes I earn as much or more selling as I spend for the next season," says Tama. "It's almost like renting the kids' stuff!" Both agree that selling at a weekend-long seasonal consignment sale yields much quicker payoff than consigning through a typical consignment store. It also allows them to shop at the Preview Sale, which is held for sellers only before opening to the public. After finding out that there were no children's consignment sales held in Florence, Tama and Kathryn began organizing The Five and Dime Kids Sale. They wanted to give Florence parents the opportunity to earn money selling those things their kids have outgrown while shopping for great bargains at the same time.
